Doretha Howell-Jenkins

Doretha Howell-Jenkins, a native Floridian, passed away on July 15, 2026, at the age of 68.Born in Pensacola, Florida, in January 1958 to Dorothy Anna Johnson and John William Howell Jr., Doretha spent much of her life in Douglas, Georgia, where she became known to many through her career in real estate. Helping families purchase their first homes brought her genuine satisfaction, and over the years she left a lasting impression on countless clients who remembered her kindness, encouragement, and dedication. Many in the Douglas community still remember her as the person who helped them purchase their very first home.Learning was a constant thread throughout Doretha's life. As a young mother, she returned to earn her high school diploma, later pursued paralegal studies, and, years later, embraced a new chapter by becoming a successful real estate professional. She believed it was never too late to learn something new, and that determination remained with her throughout her life.Doretha found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She loved gardening, camping, bicycling, spending time on the water, and especially visiting the beach. Later in life, she discovered yoga and found both enjoyment and peace in its practice. She was a lifelong lover of animals, and there was rarely a time when she did not share her home with a beloved dog or cat.
